ACLS Provider Course Description

Attentive Safety offers the ACLS Provider course for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies in Marietta, Georgia. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians,
nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for job or other
requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

​The AHA’s ACLS Provider course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).​

​This is a must-have course for paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, and physicians. Learn how to lead and run a full arrest.

Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
After successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
  • Define systems of care
  • Apply the BLS, Primary, and Secondary Assessments sequence for a systematic evaluation of adult patients
  • Discuss how the use of a rapid response team (RRT) or medical emergency team (MET) may improve patient outcomes
  • Discuss early recognition and management of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), including appropriate disposition
  • Discuss early recognition and management of stroke, including appropriate disposition
  • Recognize bradycardias and tachycardias that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  • Perform early management of bradycardias and tachycardias that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  • Model effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance team
  • Recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance
  • Recognize respiratory arrest
  • Perform early management of respiratory arrest
  • Recognize cardiac arrest
  • Perform prompt, high-quality BLS including prioritizing early chest compressions and integrating early automated external defibrillator (AED) use
  • Perform early management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post–cardiac arrest care
  • Evaluate resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of CPR quality, monitoring the patient’s physiologic response, and delivering real-time feedback to the team

Mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work Requirements

  • All students must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS Course.
  • Once a student has passed the Precourse Self-Assessment, they will gain access to the Precourse Work video lessons.
  • All video lessons must be reviewed before entering the classroom.
  • Students must print their successful Precourse Self-Assessment completion certificate and bring it with them

Marietta, Georgia ACLS Provider  Course Completion Requirements

You will be using your ACLS Provider Manual throughout the course.
  • Pass the Adult High-Quality BLS Skills Test
  • Pass the Bag-Mask Ventilation Skills Test with OPA/NPA insertion
  • Demonstrate competency in learning station skills
  • Pass the Megacode test
  • Pass the open-resource exam with a minimum score of 84%
    • An open-resource exam allows students the ability to use available resources, such as the ECC Handbook and Provider Manual, posters, algorithms, etc, to process information analytically but also to think independently and creatively with curriculum content.

​ACLS Provider Card

ACLS Provider is a credentialed course. Providers who successfully complete the ACLS course receive a course completion card valid for two years.

​Who Needs ACLS Provider Certification?

Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training's ACLS Provider classes are for healthcare providers who work in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. These requirements are driven by state licensing board regulations and detail which particular healthcare agencies or individual healthcare license holders that are required to maintain ACLS Provider certification. Continuing Education Credits for EMS Professionals

Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training is now able to offer Continuing Education credits through CAPCE (Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education) for EMS professionals. This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 2.25 Basic CEHs, activity number 18-AMHA-F2-0001.
