Mandatory Course Prerequisites
Per HSI regulations, candidates must select the course track corresponding to their active prerequisite credentials:
  • FA | CPR | AED Track (1.75 Hours): Designed for general workplace responders and safety personnel.
    • PREREQUISITE: Must possess a valid, unexpired First Aid CPR AED certification card.
  • BLS Track (2.5 Hours): Tailored for healthcare providers, dental personnel, and professional rescuers.
    • PREREQUISITE: Must possess a valid, unexpired AHA or HSI BLS Provider card.
  • Virtual / Remote (RSV) Requirement: Virtual candidates MUST possess their own on-site medical oxygen equipment (cylinder, pin-index regulator 0–15 LPM, NRB mask, and BVM/pocket mask) for live videoconference verification. Equipment is not shipped.

The Critical Need for Medical Oxygen Mastery
  • Hypoxia Prevention: Brain damage begins within 4 to 6 minutes of oxygen deprivation; early administration of supplemental oxygen maintains arterial oxygen saturation during respiratory or cardiac crises.
  • Safe Equipment Handling: Proper assembly of pin-index regulators, cylinder inspection, and pressurized gas handling prevents catastrophic equipment failures or fire hazards.
  • OSHA Compliance: Satisfies workplace safety standards under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 for specialized emergency response equipment.
  • Official HSI Certification: Earn an official 2-year HSI Emergency Use of Medical Oxygen Digital Certificate valid nationwide.
