​Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training's Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve adult, child and infant choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
​Topics covered in a Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider class include:
  • Scene Safety
  • Using Protective Barriers
  • Checking Responsiveness
  • Activating EMS
  • Clearing the Airway
  • Assisting Unresponsive Patients
  • Assisting Choking Patients
  • Assessing Breathing
  • CPR for Cardiac Arrest
  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Demonstration
  • Why you should use caution when using an AED on an infant
  • Adult, child and infant CPR

BLS Provider in Raleigh, North Carolina Course Completion Requirements

You will be using your BLS Provider Manual throughout the course.
  • Pass the 1 and 2 Rescuer Adult BLS with AED Skills Test
  • Pass the 2 Rescuer Child BLS Skills Test
  • Pass the 1 and 2 Rescuer Infant BLS with AED Skills Test
  • Pass the open-resource exam with a minimum score of 84%
    • An open-resource exam allows students the ability to use available resources, such as the ECC Handbook and Provider Manual, posters, etc, to process information analytically but also to think independently and creatively with curriculum content. 

Who Needs BLS Provider Certification?

Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training's BLS Provider classes are for healthcare providers. These requirements are driven by state licensing board regulations and detail which particular healthcare agencies or individual healthcare license holders that are required to maintain BLS Provider certification. This class can also be taken by medical professionals or students in a medical program who are interested in expanding their knowledge.

Individuals that usually require BLS Provider certification are: In addition, Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers training can be appropriate for first responders, such as police officers and firefighters, as well as for laypeople whose work brings them into contact with members of the public, such as school, fitness center, or hotel and restaurant employees.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card

Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification Card that is valid for two years.

Continuing Education Credits for EMS Professionals

Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training is now able to offer Continuing Education credits through CAPCE (Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education) for EMS professionals. This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 2.25 Basic CEHs, activity number 18-AMHA-F2-0001.
